Fun things to do in and around Edmonton this summer

To help you make the most of this summer and find ways to stay active, we've put together a list of some of our favourite things to do!

1. The TELUS World of Science is Edmonton's interactive science centre where all ages can have fun with science, technology and mathematics. The science centre features interactive exhibit galleries, Alberta's largest IMAX Theatre showing documentary and Hollywood films, an inflatable planetarium with shows daily, and also a science demonstration stage, and feature gallery hosting world-class exhibitions. Exhibit galleries are for all ages.

2. The Pioneer Museum’s Tea House in Stony Plain was opened to the public in 2002 and has been serving homemade lunches and desserts every weekend during the summer ever since. The soups, sandwiches and pies have become not only well known, but a favourite in the area.

3. Nestled in Sir Wilfrid Laurier Park, in the heart of the Edmonton's vast river valley, the Edmonton Valley Zoo is home to more than 350 animals. Get up close and see the endangered peregrine falcon, native prairie dogs, a zebra, fox, and bighorn sheep.

4. Every year the city of Fort Saskatchewan hosts a herd of sheep throughout city parks to trim the grass. For the city, it’s an eco-friendly way to keep grass trimmed, but for us, it’s a fun summer attraction! You can visit the 50 warm, friendly, and fuzzy sheep while they work. Here's our top five favourite places to visit here in Edmonton and surrounding.

5. The incredibly popular St. Albert Farmer’s Market is a great way to support local, see the city of St. Albert, and meet a variety of crafters, creators, farmers, and producers. It runs from June to October each year in downtown St. Albert.

6. With more than 17 unique and tube-friendly waterslides, the West Edmonton Mall World Water Park is one of the best ways beat the heat this summer. Splash around in the wave pool or rent a tube and surf the tall waves.

7. Experience the wonder of the midway at K-Days, Edmonton's extravaganza of rides, games, music, food and adventure.

8. A gateway to the heart of Edmonton’s River Valley, the John Janzen Nature Centre takes visitors for a walk on the wild side with programs, events and interactive exhibits designed to promote awareness and engagement with nature in an urban setting.

9. See Edmonton from a bird's eye view at the Snow Valley Aerial Park! Imagine climbing through a mix between the most amazing treehouse you've ever seen and a giant jungle gym.

10. With over 200 scrumptious dishes made by restaurant and food truck partners, Taste of Edmonton is a staple that showcases the vibrancy in Edmonton's Downtown core through art, food, music, heritage, and culture.
