Description:
With rapid growth of North Central Co-op and the expanding business within our co-op, we are currently seeking applications for the position of Assistant Grocery Manager.

Reporting to the Assistant Store (Grocery) Manager this highly motivated individual will be responsible for assisting with the management of day to day operation of the Grocery Department with in our new food store opening in the community of Chappelle, located in the city of Edmonton.

Primary Job Functions:
  • Plan and direct the day-to-day operation of the grocery department, including recruitment of new team members, training and scheduling of department team members
  • Ensures ordering, receiving, storage, and display of all product is done in accordance with prescribed guidelines
  • Execute efficient buying, inventory management, and pricing strategies to achieve optimum sales and margin
  • Ensures customer needs are met, complaints are resolved, and service is quick and efficient
  • Ensures all products and displays are merchandised effectively, maintaining high standards in design, execution, merchandising, and brand standards
  • Ensures seasonal and promotional merchandising is planned and executed to achieve maximum sales, profitability and customer excitement
  • Ensures claims, invoices, and administrative duties are completed in a timely manner
  • Lead and motivate team members through coaching, performance management, talent development and succession planning
  • Lead a culture of safety through adherence to co-op standards for health and safety, loss prevention and environmental due diligence
  • Provide positive, friendly and proactive interactions with all internal and external customers
  • Maintain high customer service standards
  • Has the ability to hold all interests within the Co-op with integrity and keeping all standards at the upmost importance

Required Skills:

  • Minimum 3 years industry specific management experience
  • Strong commitment to exceptional customer service
  • Excellent communication and strong motivational skills
  • Good delegation skills with a focus on customer service
  • Good computer skills - proficient in Microsoft Office, word, excel and outlook
